Vitalicious VitaTops - MultiBran

My wife ordered a Vitalicious Sampler in the interest of healthier breakfasts. The normal bran muffin, while tasty, are pretty far from healthy as they are loaded in fat and calories. VitaTops, however, are fat-free and lower calorie though still have a sizable 100 calories per muffin top. Vitalicious suggests this is a “controlled” portion but, since it is a little too small to satisfy, it took me a few more controlled portions before I approached fullness.

Normally I would assume the low fat bran combo would result in a sawdust taste but, since these came highly recommended, my expectations were mixed. The initial taste is a bit branny though is moist and smooth. Don’t forget the water, however, or you will be pretty parched about halfway through.

VitaTops are definitely not like any other muffin I have tasted and got better with additional bites. I would say that a regular bran muffin is slightly superior-tasting but, as VitaTops are healthier and a change-of-pace, they are worth a try. I would definitely buy these again because, if I am going to eat bran, it better be at least a little bit healthy even if it resembles a bran-filled multi-vitamin. For those of you who need to watch sodium intake, though, these would probably not be a wise choice with a hefty 360mg. Outside of this, though, they are, as the name suggests, filled with added vitamin nutrition and have high fiber with a solid 3g of protein.

I like the Vitalicious Bran Muffins. I thought they were moist and chewy, just as a good bran muffin should be. I might point out that the regular size muffins are TWO servings, not one, so if you have trouble controlling yourself, go for the muffin tops. With a little fruit and some yogurt, makes a great low-cal breakfast
